My work has always circled around questions of the psyche, systems, and the ways people and organizations come to understand themselves.
I studied psychology as an undergraduate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and later earned an MBA from Portland State University. Years of work in IT, software development, and entrepreneurship gave me a grounding in how systems operate in practice. But my deep fascination with the human psyche eventually led me to return to school and Carl Jung’s investigations into depth psychology, where I earned a Master’s degree and completed doctoral coursework; I am now working toward completing a dissertation related to the functional structure of the psyche.
I am also a certified MBTI® practitioner, with over a decade of study into both the instrument and its Jungian foundations. My current research explores how empirical evidence can support Jung’s model of the psyche, reframing personality as a dynamic functional system. This work brings together systems thinking, organizational consulting, and empirical research into psyche. I now focus on the implications of personality and inner life for leadership, organizations, and the sciences of mind and AI.
The still waters that run deep and allow for reflection inspired the name of my company. Reflecting on the deep structures of the psyche and the inner dimensions of psychological experience are the hallmarks of my life’s work. Photography is one way I engage this inquiry — all of the images on this site are mine, each an attempt to convey stillness, depth, and reflection in ways that move beyond words.
